Horst Nonnenmacher studied classical contrabass at the HdK Berlin and has since become a revered member of the German jazz scene. He was a member of the legendary Association Urbanétique as well as the group FRIGG and Interzone (with Adam Pieronczyk) and achieved an outstanding reputation as a starkly creative musician with his own highly accomplished and inimitable style through collaborations on countless CD-productions, tours, and concerts with other well-known Jazz musicians (such as Sam Rivers, Aki Takase, Paul Bley, John Tchicai, Jim Black, Alexander v. Schlippenbach, Marc Ducret, Misha Mengelberg, and Elliott Sharp). Today his highly diverse musical activities span Brazillian Forró (with Eutalia de Carvalho), neo-Klezmer interpretations, avant garde experiments, and contemporary Jazz.

Manuel Miethe

Manuel Miethe works as a saxophonist, composer and musical improviser. After studying cultural studies in Berlin and applying himself to various trades such as archaeological excavation and freelance photography he works as an independent musician and as a sound engineer.

As one of the few saxophonists who have devoted themselves almost exclusively to the soprano saxophone, he has engaged himself over the past two decades with developing an improvisational language and body of composition for this unique instrument.

With The Levitation, a trio with bassist Horst Nonnenmacher and drummer Lucìa Martìnez he played with Alexander von Schlippenbach, Nico Huijbregts and danish tromboneplayer Jens Kristian Bang.
In other projects he collaborated with musicians such as polish pianist Marzena Lis, accordionist Franka Lampe, Rafal Mazur, Harald-Christoph Thiemann, canadian folksinger Brenna MacCrimmon and composer Bertram Denzel.

Lucia Martinez

Lucia Martinez  has worked with musicians in the field of jazz, folk, traditional music, classical, such as Maria João, Perico Sambeat, Carlos Bica, Jason Lindner, Allan Ferber, OJM (Jazz Orquestra from Matosinhos-Portugal), Laszlo Süle, Orquesta ImaxinaSons (Jazz Orquestra from Vigo-Spain), Filarmonic from Galicia (Spain), Uxía Senlle, Mercedes Peón, Rodrigo Romaní, to just name a few.

Lucia appeard on several festivals world wide such as the Festival Interceltique de Lorient (France), Folk Festival (Cannes-Francia), Music Festival Dranouter (Belgic), Celtic Connections (Glasgow-Scotland), Festival La Mar de Músicas (Cartagena-Spain), Festival de Ortigueira (Galicia-Spain), VIII Encontro de Música Antiga de Loulé (Portugal), Festival Imaxinasons (Vigo-Spain), Festival de Jazz de Vila Real, Jazz no Rio, Música no Palácio (Portugal).

She studied orchestral percussion at the “School of high education from Galicia”(2002-2004), She is graduated in classical percussion in the “Conservatory of Music” in Vigo (2006) and she got the eight year in orchestral percussion in the Guildhall School of Music in London (1998).

Besides this classical training she focused on drums, vibraphone and jazz composition. She did an Erasmus Program in the Institute Politecnic of Helsinki Stadia and finally graduated at the well known School of Music and Arts (ESMAE) from Porto (Portugal) (2007). She participated in big-band, composition, vibraphone and drums workshops, in Italy, Portugal, Spain and United Kingdom.

Some of her teachers were Michael Lauren, John Hollenbeck, Jeffry Davis, David Samuels, John Riley, Garrison Fewell, David Friedman, Severy Pysalo to just name a few.

She got two awards in the important portugues jazz festival: Festival San Luiz in Lisboa in May 2007: the best musician and the best band.

Right now she lives in Berlin: studying the Master Program in jazz at the “University of Arts” (JIB) from Berlin. Working as a drummer and percussion player, she belong to the drum quartet “Tim Tim por Tim Tum”, together with José Salgueiro, Alexandre Fraçao and Marco Franco, to the world-music project “Coplas para Icía- Xabier Díaz”. She plays historic percussion in the project  “Amar contra o silencio”, and vibraphone and percussion in the “Projecto Miño-Baldo Martínez”.

She also plays in different projects playing, vibraphone, drums, percussion, composing or arranging in different kinds of music like jazz, latin, folk, classic and contemporain.
